Job Apprentice Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Grande Prairie, AB, Grande Prairie

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, and under the direction of the Maintenance Lead and Heavy Equipment Mechanic(s), the Apprentice Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible to assist with repair, inspection and preventative maintenance on truck fleet and pumping equipment. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanics

Assist the Heavy Equipment Mechanic in all tasks and duties related to repair, inspection, and preventative maintenance or scheduled service for truck fleet.
With direction or under supervision, ensure all mechanical work is completed in a safe manner and as per company standards.
Learn and understand the operation of equipment as it relates to the cementing of oil and gas wells.
Complete documentation as directed, including work orders, maintenance reports, and other records.
Ensure outstanding issues with equipment are escalated.


Clean and maintain shop and perform light maintenance as directed.

General

Participate in training and development activities.
Other related duties as required.




QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required

Enrolled in a related trade program (Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician, Saskatchewan Truck and Transport Mechanic, or State Automotive or Diesel Technology) with some related experience.
Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
Able to work overtime, accommodate a flexible schedule, and travel regularly to meet the needs of the business.
Driver’s license (non-graduated) with a clean driver’s abstract/record.
Legally eligible to work in the country the position is based out of.
